Biscuits & Bandwidth is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. I believe the information on this site should be available to everyone — whether you're reading on a phone, using a screen reader, or navigating by keyboard.
What I'm Doing
I aim to follow Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards by:
- Using sufficient color contrast for all text and interactive elements
- Providing descriptive alt text for images (I'm a writer — I'm not going to skip the alt text)
- Ensuring the site works with keyboard navigation
- Using semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy
- Making links descriptive rather than "click here" (I've always hated "click here")
- Designing touch targets large enough for mobile use
- Supporting screen readers with ARIA labels where needed
Known Limitations
I'm being honest here — this is a personal website built with a site builder, not a custom-coded platform with a dedicated accessibility team. There may be areas that aren't perfectly accessible yet, including:
- Some interactive elements (like expandable FAQ accordions) may need refinement for assistive technology
- Older blog posts may not have been reviewed for current accessibility standards
- Third-party components (like the CAPTCHA on forms) are outside my direct control
- Complex data visualizations or comparison tables may present challenges
I'm actively working on these. Accessibility isn't a checkbox — it's an ongoing process, and I'm committed to getting better.
